The Boneval project is the recipient of the 2021 John Russell Pope Award for Multi-Family Residential Design and the 2021 CNU Charter Award in the Block, Street, and Building category. The 40-unit condo building sits in the heart of Capitol Hill and blends seamlessly with the neighborhood through its exquisite architectural details and rich gardens. Blooming understory trees, shrubs, perennials, and ornamental grasses create a constantly evolving atmosphere at ground level. The plantings second as a bioretention filter for rainwater from the building. Granite curbs, carefully articulated metal work, and limestone & brick paving complement the historic neighborhood. Moody Graham designed the ground level exterior garden, an interior courtyard, and roof terrace.
