Being, Living — 2015 — Washington, DC

Deanwood Market

Moody Graham collaborated with Teass Warren Architects to envision affordable housing in the historic neighborhood of Deanwood in Washington, DC. The project was designed to meet the International Living Futures Institute’s rigorous sustainable requirements of their Living Building Challenge.

Our competition entry, Deanwood Market, includes two module types for living and working, on-site bio-retention and water re-use, and a dynamic social market space that sells produce from on-site garden plots.

The site features combine to create a new urban node that improves the walkability, sustainability, and economic vitality of the neighborhood. The project received the second place award from a very competitive field of submissions.
