Born and raised in Yellow Mountain, China, Boya felt connected to the vitality of landscape architecture amidst the historical town and mountainous skyline.  She is passionate about intimate, sustainable design with local materials and vegetation.

Boya appreciates landscape architecture as a convergence of geological, cultural, and social systems. It serves as a dynamic medium that encapsulates the past, present, and future. This notion has shaped her approach to design, focusing on locality and echoing broader contexts.

Funded by the Harvard GSD Community Service Fellowship, Boya collaborated with local communities and artists in Potsdam, New York. Her work extended to exploring sustainable approaches to stormwater management and fostering community engagement across diverse scales in the Netherlands and Japan.
