The Guards Red circular fountain is the focal point for this historic rowhome garden in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Five koi call this vessel home and can dive to depths of more than 4' below a false bottom during the coldest nights. The garden balances historic walls and mature plants with carefully detailed new bluestone terraces, a steel & cedar pergola, and ipe screens. Layers of planting provide for rich views from inside the home and create moments of interest in every corner of the garden. Subtle lighting of the trees, steps, fountain, and planters create an additional layer to the landscape experience.
